Just Because

These made me laugh out loud! These are some shirts that made me laugh aloud to myself at work (and to the dismay of my co-workers who were wondering what could be so funny at such an unfunny job)... You can get your own personal chuckles at http://www.snorgtees.com/.

Calling all Sarah Fans

If you have not heard "Answer" by Sarah McLachlan I am begging you to go on iTunes now. I was watching the movie The Brave One (VERY intense) with Jodie Foster on Sunday night and Answer was the theme song and it blew me away. I am a long time Sarah fan...she is always good for a cry...but this song is SOOOOOOO beautiful. I really hope you all give it a listen. Here are the lyrics just in case...

I will be the answer
At the end of the line
I will be there for you
While you take the time
In the burning of uncertainty
I will be your solid ground
I will hold the balance
If you can't look down
If it takes my whole lifeI won't break, I won't bend
It will all be worth it
Worth it in the end
Cause I can only tell you what I know
That I need you in my life
When the stars have all gone out
You'll still be burning so bright
Cast me gently
Into morning
For the night has been unkind
Take me to a
Place so holy
That I can wash this from my mind
The memory of choosing not to fight
If it takes my whole life I won't break, I won't bend
It will all be worth it
Worth it in the end'
Cause I can only tell you what I know
That I need you in my life
When the stars have all burned out
You'll still be burning so bright
Cast me gently
Into morning
For the night has been unkind

Run for The Hills

While watching "The Hills" is a thing of the past for me I saw this cover online this morning and love it! I must say I am a little confused how they all made nice and cuddled together but the end result is adorable either way. I love that they are all wearing baby pink and looking fabulous. While I find the show over-rated and lacking in talent I do think that LC has turned out to be a beautiful girl with great fashion sense. I also love her namesake designs...simple and overpriced but very cute.

Peace Out!

I hope you all have a FABULOUS Weekend, See y'all next week!

Rastafarian Dog

Ok, so I was trolling the Internet this morning and came across a photo these dogs that I just had to share. It is a Puli a.k.a. a Hungarian Sheep Dog....but it looks more like a Rastafarian dog. I googled images of them and there is something so sweet about these dogs, they are said to have an amazing temperament and when they are puppies they are too too cute! You can get a black one or a white one. Plus, you know how they say pets start to look like their owners and vice verse? I would love to see some guy...say American Idols Jason Castro...walking one of these!

Ahhhh Finally....

The return of my all time favorite drama is TONIGHT (and I am smiling as I write this)! Ode to Grey's Anatomy. I have missed you so much, the writers strike tore us apart but now we will meet again in my living room. According to abc.com we will be reunited in 7:55:20 (7 hours, 55 minutes, and 20 seconds...but who's counting). I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us this season...if you are watching tonight think of me and know I am in a happy place.

Heidi Merrick...Yes Please

I was reading my monthly issue of DOMINO when I came across an article about one Heidi Merrick....who is she? She was in the mag showing people how to catch, chill, fillet and cook a fish. No worries, and she looked beautiful doing it. Then I read on and saw a photo of her wearing....her own designs! I went to her site heidimerrick.com and saw what I think are the most amazing pieces. Plus, her images are so stylish and chic. Notice the man with his head all wrapped up...he makes cameos in just about all the pictures for the spring/summer 2008 collection. Mind you the price tag is heavy (sigh) but the clothes are fun to look at and could give you some ideas about what to look for when shopping at more affordable stores. All I know is, I heart Heidi Merrick.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Has made me want to forget the many full (male) frontals that occur int he film. I must admit it was a little shocking for my taste but hey, whatever floats your boat...I chose to close my eyes and ask Tod to tell me when it would be over. Aside from that I LOVED this movie...it was so funny. Jason Segel is hilarious and was meant to play a leading role in a comedy. Kristen Bell looks "hot" or at least that is what Tod said and Mila Kunis is my new favorite person (is she still dating Macaulay Culkin?). Anyhoo, if you are looking for a great laugh this movie had me cracking up...do not measure it to the other comedies with these guys in them just let it be the movie that it as because it is not funnier than movies like Knocked Up and Super Bad.

They're Ba-aack

If there is one thing I do not keep secret it is my absolute dread over one particular day of the week...Monday. I'm sorry Monday but work gives you a bad name, I just cannot love you the way I love Friday and Saturday. But this Monday is looking up because tonight is the first of 5 new Gossip Girl episodes! Oh how I have missed B and S. With something to look forward to this day should at least go by a little faster than Monday's normally do. Thank you G.G. for making my Monday...Sadly I have just realized I have reduced myself to finding joy in a teen drama that has no relevance to my life. Oh well.

What was Wrong with the Old (younger looking) Katie Holmes

So it's the simple story of boy meets girl, only the boy was Tom Cruise and the girl was Katie Holmes. One living at the top, one on the rise. My only question is, if Tom wanted Katie so bad why does she look almost unrecognizable compared to her former self??? Now don't get me wrong I am all for the stars having make-overs and stylist as I love to study their impeccable wardrobes but please, I would only study Katie Holmes now if I was pushing 50! Wait, isn't Tom pushing 50? Anyways, A beautiful young woman/mother who will turn thirty this year should look a little less OLD. Maybe I am going out on a limb but I have a feeling she is more like a puppet than a wife, I do truly hope they are very happy but find it hard to believe she wakes up every day thinking...I can't wait to wear my mothers clothes. Not to say she is not a beautiful woman still it's just...have you seeeen the clothes she is being photographed in lately?
You be the judge.

The Tutors?

Apparently have been missing out on the show The Tutors for one reason and one reason only and his name is Henry Cavill. Can you believe he is only 24? I came across this picture on US Weekly's web site and had to double take, who is this man? Turns out he was also in one of my favorite movies of all time, Tristan and Isolde (go ahead and laugh but it was Goo-ood). Funny thing...he was looking not so good in that movie, hence my lack of memory of him. Anyhoo, I hope you all like this little bit of crushworthy eye candy.

My Tory Obsession Continues

I'm sorry if you are not a Tory fan but I just lover her, she makes looking glamorous so effortless. She looks done up but not made up. I feel like when she gets ready she focuses less on what should go together and more on what she loves and how she can pull off wearing exactly what she wants. The dress, to die for. The shoes, oh the shoes. And the arm band style bracelet and the mini clutch are too cute. Dear Tory, if you will not be wearing this outfit for awhile (since you were recently photographed in it) can I please pretty please borrow it?

If You Know Me...

You know I am Banana's for Country Music. If forced to pick a favorite singer, group, song, etc....I couldn't. Country music IS the soundtrack of my life. No other music stirs up my emotions and memories quite like country. I know most people reading this probably want to gag but last night I was one happy camper watching the CMA's. I will say that this little girl's music get's me. If you have not heard any songs by Taylor Swift just give her a chance, maybe a 30 second clip in iTunes? She was soooo cute last night and dressed delightfully age appropriate! I really do not like it when these young stars try to dress and be someone they are not! And those pink shoes...too cute. If you saw the show you know when she went up to present she was carrying them! Good for you Taylor, after your heartfelt apology to your stylist I do not see how he/she could be mad...you are just too darn cute!

Thank You Martha

So I love reading about entertaining and was surfing marthastewart.com and came across these DIY invitations. Are you kidding me? These are soooooo cute and surprisingly easy to make! If you study the picture closely you can see she first sews two draped lines and then uses striped ribbon to make the lanterns by cutting them with zig zag scissors. Last she puts little strips of construction paper for the lantern tails...um...could it be any easier? Now if I could just find the time to (A) Plan and host a party and (B) Spend the necessary time to put these cutie invites together!

Currently Loving

Tory Burch. Tod and I were wandering throught the Tory burch store this past weekend and I was so impressed by the details that go into setting up one of her boutiques. With her blast to the past designs and use of color in things like the walls, carpet, and fixtures you truly get a shopping experience where I feel like I am in her world. She creates designs that do not conform to the mainstream, they are a piece of her. In interviews she always talk about how she draws inspiration from her parents and the way they never left the house when she was growing up without being completely put together. I love this necklace she designed....and it looks great on her...a little pricey for me but worth admiring.

I did however set my sights on this lovely little clutch...which also happens to be much more affordable...maybe once summer rolls around I can introduce it to my other purses, I think they would really get along!

Clearing My Subconscious.

I have been in a bit of a rut fighting with my subconscious...I googled "clearing your subconcious" and the first link led me to read something that I felt really inspired by so I am going to share it ( I think it is good even if your subconsious is just fine). It's long but hang in there, it's worth it!

10 Steps.

1. Be the guardian of everything that enters your mind. Know that everything you see hear and feel goes directly into your subconscious mind and you must manage the information you allow in. Eliminate negative information as much as you can by limiting the amount of news you read, stop seeing violent movies, read only positive information. Keep the positive information flowing into your mind and your subconscious will naturally become more positive.
2. Speak kindly to yourself. When you look in the mirror do you like what you see? Do you compliment yourself on your most outstanding attributes? Stop all negative talk to yourself immediately. You are a perfect creation of God and you have beautiful traits that need recognizing. Remind yourself of your great eyes or your winning smile—whatever sets you apart from everyone else in a positive way. Your subconscious will thank you.
3. Surround yourself with positive people. Negative people can quickly lead to negative thoughts. Make sure your group of friends are those that love and admire you for the great person you are. Eliminate any time spent with anyone who brings you down. You can’t afford the hit to your subconscious mind simply to maintain a negative friendship.
4. Use affirmations to your advantage and the optimum times when your subconscious mind is listening. Immediately upon waking and immediately upon going to bed are the times when your conscious and subconscious mind are closest. It is at these times when you get the biggest bang out of your affirmations. Use positive affirmations at these times to super-program the subconscious. Some examples of positive affirmations are:
I am one with the creative power that is materializing all my desires.
Money is my friend. I have plenty of money.
I freely express my creativity
5. Be grateful Oprah Winfrey has done a magnificent job of reminding us all how important it is to have gratitude in our lives. Having gratitude allow us to realize the blessings we already have and keeps us open to receive so much more. Make a list of everything you are grateful for and grow this list as time goes on. On any day when it seems that nothing is going your way refer back to this list and remind yourself of all the blessings you already have. Your subconscious mind needs to know what you are grateful for so it can manifest more of the same for you.
6. Manage your time. There are twenty-four hours in the day for everyone. The wealthy and the poor all have the same amount of time—the difference is in how they use their time. On the first day of each month plan, what you wish to accomplish. At the beginning of each week, make lists that support your plan along with all the necessary tasks that keep life going. Daily make lists of tasks you will accomplish that support all of the above. Keep your to-do list with you and check off all of your accomplished tasks. Your subconscious mind needs to see all the tiny accomplishments it takes for continued growth—not all those little checkmarks on your to-do list will go unnoticed.
7. Surround yourself with your favorite things. Begin today placing your favorite things in full view in your home. Whether these be family pictures, treasures from your travels or sport memorabilia, always keep these things visible. You should be completely comfortable at home and your subconscious mind will benefit your renewed feeling of comfort and the peace you will have at home when you have your favorite things around you.
8. Set aside time for you. Everyone needs time to reflect. Whether you pray, meditate, practice yoga, or just read positive information. Set aside an hour each day for yourself. Your subconscious mind needs to know just how important you are and nothing shows this importance than having time for yourself. Many believe there is not a free hour in the day for themselves. Whether you have to wake an hour early or go to bed an hour later having an hour of peace is an important way to clear your mind and open yourself to the possibilities your subconscious mind can offer.
9. Be the person you admire Make a list of the attributes you most admire in others and incorporate these into your own life—one by one. Once you begin to admire yourself, your subconscious mind will have a higher opinion of you as well.
10. Maintain a lighthearted/happy spirit. Never allow the pressures of the day to bring you down. Make it a point to be light hearted and happy as much as humanly possible. Dwelling on the negatives of life badly affects your subconscious mind. Keeping a positive spirit will keep your subconscious mind well programmed and open to wonderful possibilities.

Splish Splash

This ad alone makes me want to run out and try these new Marc Jacobs splash scents. Basil, Geapefruit, or Pear. I love fresh scents for when I am running around on the weekends. The colors are so cute too. I am strangely drawn to basil (one of my top three fresh herbs) but cannot imagine smelling like it myself. I will definitely need to go for a little test spritz when I get a chance!

Flashback.

Apparently I have hit that age where you start to see styles you wore in Jr. High come back! Not only did I have these shoes in Jr. High but they were made by the same brand! I was tuling through the shoes on Nordstrom.com and couldn't believe what I saw...I remember loving these and wearing them with everything, they are "natural" so there is just abouth nothing they would not match.

Shout out to the Brussels Sprout

Until last year I had never even tasted a Brussels sprout but knew I hated them because...because I just though no one liked Brussels sprouts. If this is you give them a try. Tod and I ate at a friends house last year and he made oven roasted vegetables with Brussels sprouts and I was horrified, as a courtesy I told mi I would "try" one but that I was sure I would hate them. Well...looks like I was wrong, I LOVE Brussels sprouts, they are very very good. I have since eaten them in several restaurants and I have made them at home as well. At home I steam my Brussels sprouts and squeeze fresh lemon juice and use fresh ground pepper. All it takes is 15 minutes and they are perfect. Give them a try...I think you'll like em!
